TÜBİTAK Funding Awarded to a Research Project Involving Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Serdar Çelik

The research project entitled “Forecasting Tanker Freight Rates: Development of an Artificial Neural Network and SHAP-Based Model,” in which Asst. Prof. Mehmet Serdar Çelik, a faculty member of the Department of Maritime Business Administration at the Faculty of Maritime, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, serves as a researcher, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program.

The project aims to develop an artificial neural network-based model for forecasting tanker freight rates and to enhance the interpretability of the factors influencing these predictions through the SHAP method. The study is expected to contribute to data-driven analysis and decision-making processes in maritime economics and shipping markets.

We congratulate Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Serdar Çelik and the project team on this achievement and wish them continued success in their research endeavors.
