The Advisory Board Meeting of the Department of Marine Engineering, Faculty of Maritime Studies, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, was held online on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 16:00, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samet MEMİŞ, Head of the Department.

Representatives from major institutions and companies operating in the maritime sector, along with the department and faculty academic/administrative staff, attended the meeting.

Two main agenda items were discussed during the meeting:

1. Revision of Program Outcomes and Determination of TYYÇ Relations

A consensus was reached on reviewing and updating the department's program outcomes to better meet sector requirements. The advisory board members welcomed the emphasis on practical training, ethical values, and internationalization goals within the program outcomes, highlighting that this approach aligns well with industry realities.

2. Uniformed Education Practice

Board members stated that uniformed education is an integral part of maritime training, emphasizing its necessity for sustaining discipline and hierarchy in shipboard environments. It was noted that this practice is not merely visual, but also a reflection of professional ethics and culture.

Current issues in the maritime sector were also evaluated during the meeting; recommendations were shared regarding the degree to which education aligns with current industry needs, as well as ways to strengthen university-industry collaboration.

The meeting concluded with good wishes following a mutual exchange of views among participants.
