Faculty Conducts Green Port-Focused Site Visit to Borusan Port

As part of the TÜBİTAK 3005-supported research project entitled "Integration of Green Port Strategies in Türkiye: A Roadmap for Sustainable Management," conducted by faculty members of our Faculty, a site visit was carried out at Borusan Port.

The visit was attended by the project coordinator, Assist. Prof. Ramazan Özkan YILDIZ, and project researchers Assist. Prof. Mehmet Serdar ÇELİK and Assist. Prof. Elif KOÇ. During the visit, meetings were held with Hamdi ERÇELİK, General Manager of Borusan Port and Chairman of the Board of TÜRKLİM, and Hasan OKTAY, Administrative Affairs Manager of Borusan Port, to discuss the sustainable and green transformation processes of ports.

Within the scope of the visit, renewable energy investments, electrification initiatives, algorithm-based hazardous cargo yard management, alternative cargo handling methods, as well as green space development and rainwater recycling projects implemented at the port were examined on site. These practices were evaluated as significant outcomes, demonstrating that the theoretical framework developed within the project has practical applicability in real-world port operations.
