General Info

History

The Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering was established on 13 April 2011 within the Bandırma Maritime Faculty, which had been founded in 2009 under Balıkesir University. Today, the Department continues its academic activities within the Faculty of Maritime at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, established in 2015. Having admitted its first students in 2023, the Department is currently pursuing accreditation by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure on behalf of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Mission of the Department

The Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering aims to provide education in accordance with the STCW 2010 Convention, enabling graduates to meet the requirements for the Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) certificate of competency. In addition to professional maritime education, the Department integrates engineering education to cultivate graduates who possess critical and analytical thinking skills, teamwork competence, a strong sense of social responsibility, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

General Information

The undergraduate curriculum in Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering consists of eight semesters, excluding the optional English preparatory year. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering.

Like other engineering programs in Türkiye, Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering admits students based on the Quantitative (Mathematics and Science) score obtained in the national university entrance examination.
