Condolences for Those Who Lost Their Lives in the Marine Casualty off the Coast of Kyrenia

We are deeply saddened by the tragic news that 8 people lost their lives in a marine casualty after a passenger vessel, which had unberthed from the Port of Kyrenia (TRNC) and set course for the Port of Taşucu (Mersin), capsized while  underway off the coast of Kyrenia. We extend our deepest condolences to the grieving families, relatives, and the entire maritime community for those who perished in this casualty. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured and convey our sympathies to all rescued passengers and seafarers.

Minimizing marine casualties, ensuring safety of life at sea (SOLAS), and maintaining navigational safety standards at the highest level are among the core responsibilities of the maritime sector. This tragic incident has once again reminded us of the vital importance of maritime safety culture and regulations. We hope that the incident will be fully investigated in all its aspects, and may Allah grant safety and success to the personnel of all agencies and organizations conducting SAR (Search and Rescue) operations on site.

As the Maritime Faculty, we once again extend our deepest sympathies for those who lost their lives, wish strength to their families, and a rapid recovery to the injured.
